Wistful Wednesday: 1952

Pin curls..do up you hair for a Saturday night.

Mom Connie and Aunt Marion 1952

That is my Mom with her hair in pin curls with a scarf wrapped around her head.  Pants with rolled up cuffs must have been in fashion that year.

This photo was taken at my Grandparents D’s home..that is their garage in the background..and the cloths line where the wash was was hung..and most likely many diapers..there were three new babies in the house that winter..me and my twin Aunt and Uncle who were born two months after me:)

  1. AHHHH…pincurls and a scarf to cover your head while it dried . My first attempts at doing my own hair involved learning to make pin curls and I did it for years til the big rollers came around. It was easier to sleep on pincurls (which I did all through high school) than on those rollers that kept you awake.
My mother in law used to set her hair (overnight) in brush rollers, put on a net roller cap , take 2-3 Excedrin and go to bed so she would not wake up with a massive headache!
I got my hair cut short for summer and I do not have to sleep with any pincurls or rollers!!!!
And then came the big hair dryers with the parachute sized cap!!!!! Great memories. In 1952 I was 14!!!!! Find some pics of women sitting uner their home dryers!!!!!!
